File a Claim for Audition Pay
As of now, filing an individual claim through SAG-AFTRA is the only way to seek your contractually-owed Audition Pay.
As recently as 2024, individual members have filed these claims and studios have paid them. Some are actively being pursued by the union and its legal team.
However, there are some existing limitations:
The 2023 TV/Theatrical Contract ratified by SAG-AFTRA members codified the September 28, 2022 Requirements Notice , which severely limits the original Audition Pay provision. As such, members are only able to file claims for Audition Pay if they are explicitly required to memorize lines for an audition or self tape, OR prove that memorization was necessary (even if the request included a disclaimer that said it wasn’t).
These claims apply to auditions for projects working under the SAG-AFTRA TV/Theatrical CBA or Netflix Agreement. This process would NOT apply to projects working under other SAG-AFTRA contracts, such as the TV Animation, Network Code, Interactive, COED, or Commercial contracts.
There is a 6-month statute of limitations for filing Audition Pay claims.
